Cambridge A Level Maths Past Papers: Further Mechanics (9231/3)

Topics included: Motion of a Projectile, Equilibrium of a Rigid Body, Circular Motion, Hooke's Law, Linear Motion under a Variable Force and Momentum.

Major changes to subject content in 2019:

  • The previous Further Mechanics course content taught until 2019 has been removed and replaced with the previous Mechanics 2 content of the A Level Mathematics (9709) course.
  • The content retained from the previous Further Mechanics (9231) course and assessed on the new course is as follows:
  • Momentum: Newton’s experimental law, restitution and direct/oblique impacts of a sphere with a surface retained. Oblique impacts of two spheres added.
  • Circular motion: motion in a vertical circle retained.
  • All other content from the previous course has been completely removed and will no longer be assessed.

1 hour 30 minutes. 50 marks. Calculator allowed.
